Sunshine Village

After the Sunshine Bill requiring solar and heat pumps on new builds was rejected, Good Energy launched a low-budget response to reignite public and political interest.

In April 2025, Southsea Model Village became a scaled-down vision of a greener future, with tiny new builds fitted with mini solar panels and heat pumps, older ones retrofitted, and custom villagers modelled on figures from both sides of the debate, including Ed Miliband, Nigel Farage, and Stephen Morgan, who even came to meet his mini-me. A project I led from concept to completion, right down to helping paint some of the tiny new homes.

The project earned 20+ pieces of coverage on a shoestring budget, and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband has since announced plans to require solar panels on the vast majority of new-build homes in England.
